Thoughts:
The SD-2 from Dietrich is a follow up to their successful SD-1, but they’ve decided to drop the sapphire dial and bezel and go for something a bit more ‘traditional’. The design style stays the same, but with a sandwich dial construction and no date window.
I’m a sucker for sapphire these days so I thought I’d be disappoint by what felt like a step backwards in materials, but Dietrich managed to make this one feel a lot more cohesive, and it certainly feels like a solid product. I also appreciate a no-date watch so this checks off a lot of boxes. I hope to see some eccentric case design in the next Dietrich watch!
